What is the need to read literature?

A seemingly silly question to which answer is obvious. But on strict scrutiny, it isn't so. A bevy of interpreters overwhelms Plato's vision of literature just as a cause of distraction to surreality. At the same time, some others perceive literature more to illusion and distraction as commented by Plato. In  Poetics, Aristotle reproached the views held by Plato on Mimesis and Catharsis. Hence, from time immemorial the vitality of literature and its need to be studied still remains to be resolved. However, in a few words we can say that literature itself is nothing but a charismatic conglomeration of life and life sciences. Side to side with Science and Technology, Literature too grows against all suspicions and arguments. So I leave it to you as to why you like to read as the question is partially subjective.
